latest wordpress learning

today the lesson on Lynda.com is about custom navigation. i’ve learned to make the menu items say what i want. what do you think of the new menus? i made new menus in the header and a really fancy menu in the sidebar. except that only looks like some links at the moment. i also figured out how to put things in order on the side bar! that’s the point of taking the online class. you can use wordpress as is but it’s fun to gain control of the look of it! the Lynda.com lessons get me there faster!

what i really want to know is how to make the whole header smaller! help!!!

my friend’s solo show

I’m very excited about my friend JOHN KRAFT ‘s solo show at Hotel Triton’s Mezzanine Gallery. Tonight is the Artist’s Reception! It’s from 6PM to 8PM.

sailboats lift out of the bay and into the sky, racing to the moon

by John Kraft

the description on facebook says it all!

This exhibit, featuring many of John’s personal favorites, encapsulates the joy found in living and the bliss of family life so often prevalent in his work. To understand John’s world is to appreciate what truly matters in seeking to thrive: support in partnership, love of one’s surroundings, positive thoughts and a little bit of boldness! While his themes start from a personal place, John ‘celebrates the universal’ through recurring symbolism (blue figures, sailboats) because these symbols, John shares, ‘serve as metaphor for individuals and society as a whole; wishing, hoping, dreaming… loving.’

i haven’t been yet but this hotel sounds pretty special too:
In 1991, nine San Francisco artists put their heads and hearts together with a singleness of purpose. Their collaborative genius created the inspirational hotel that’s definitely hip: Hotel Triton, a 140-room wonderland like no other. …Step inside our lobby and check out a fantastic mural that tells the story of San Francisco’s growing and ever-changing art scene. Discover stunning photos in the hallways instead of uninspiring art you’ve learned to tune out … It’s no wonder Harper’s Bazaar singled out the Hotel Triton as the best hotel in San Francisco, calling it “a happening and unique escape from the mundane.

invitation to the show

although i’ve committed to focusing on 9 months of printmaking classes and have stopped actively seeking opportunities to show my work three very special opportunities to take part in group exhibitions have come my way and i’d love everyone to come out and support my work and the incredible work of others in these shows.
first on the first of december is a annual group show for all the students of Katie Gilmartin at Chysalis Studio. Katie’s studio is situated in SOMArts, the South of Market Cultural Center, at 934 Brannan, (between 8th and 9th) and that’s where the show will be! Most of Katies’ students are very accomplished printmakers and their work is absolutely gorgeous! i’m excited to have my early attempts as part of this show! the exhibit is one night only dec 1, 7-9PM free admission.

second on the third of december i take part in another one night event, “Chillin’ Productions Huge Annual Holiday Show” this time a huge party celebrating emerging artists in the fields of visual art, fashion, jewelery, music and creativity in general. Irene Hernandez-Feiks produces this event every year at no cost to the artists in support of the SF talented community! this event will be at Mezzanine 444 Jessie Street @ Mint (near Civic Center) from 7PM till 2AM, although if you want to bump into me you should go on the early side.$10.00 at the door, 21 & over.

third is the biggest deal yet for my career: the Misho Abstract Gallery December Group Show 680 8th Street Suite 230. the gallery is owned by an accomplished artist, Swiss born Michel Misho who happens to be an amazing abstract photographer so it’s an overwhelming complement to be included in this show! Opening: December 10th from 1pm to 5pm, Exhibit Continues: December 15, 16, 17 free admission.

please come out for these events show your support!!
